The Cairn is a two-way passive bookshelf speaker sold as a matched pair. The cabinet is 18 mm MDF with a genuine walnut veneer on the front baffle and sides. The woofer is a 13 cm polypropylene cone; the tweeter is a 25 mm soft-dome.
Frequency response is rated 60 Hz to 20 kHz at -3 dB. Impedance is 8 ohms, sensitivity 87 dB/1W/1m. The speaker requires an external amplifier. Binding posts accept bare wire up to 2.5 mm or banana plugs.

Better than expected at this price
The walnut veneer is consistent. Paired with a modest integrated amp, the sound is clean and balanced. Bass extension is what you would expect from a 13 cm driver.

Both cabinets measure identically on a basic SPL meter. Impressed.

At 87 dB sensitivity they need a bit of power. A low-powered receiver will not do them justice.
