The Porter Paper Lantern is a spherical shade of mulberry rice paper stretched over a ribbed bamboo frame, 45 cm in diameter. It rests on a low three-leg wooden stand and casts a soft, diffuse glow suited to a corner or beside a low chair.
The cord runs 2.4 m to an inline foot switch. The socket accepts an E26 bulb up to 40 W; a low-wattage LED is recommended to keep the paper cool. The shade ships flat and expands when fitted to the frame.

Soft light, fragile shade
The glow is exactly the diffuse light I wanted in the corner. The paper creased slightly during assembly and you cannot undo that. Handle the shade gently.

Stand feels light
The bamboo frame is fine but the three-leg stand tips if you brush it. I keep it where it will not get bumped. Cheap and pleasant otherwise.
