A liquid-filled baseplate compass with a rotating bezel and adjustable declination.
Shipping: calculated at delivery
The Compact Baseplate Compass has a liquid-filled capsule that steadies the needle quickly and damps swing. The clear acrylic baseplate carries millimeter and inch scales along its edges and 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 romer scales for plotting on topographic maps.
The rotating bezel is graduated in 2-degree increments. A declination adjustment screw lets you set the local magnetic variation once and then read true bearings directly. A magnifying lens and a lanyard hole are built into the baseplate.
The needle is balanced for the Northern Hemisphere. Weight is 35 g.

Declination screw is worth it
Setting declination once and reading true bearings directly removes a step and a source of error. The capsule has no bubble and settles fast. Romer scales line up with my maps.

Bezel turns a bit freely
The bezel rotates without much resistance, so I double-check it has not shifted in my pocket. Otherwise an accurate, no-frills compass. Northern Hemisphere only, as stated.
