A portable stereo recorder with a built-in X/Y microphone pair and a 3.5 mm input.
Shipping: calculated at delivery
The Handheld Field Recorder captures stereo audio through a built-in pair of condenser microphones arranged in a fixed X/Y pattern. It records to a microSD card as WAV up to 24-bit / 96 kHz or as MP3. The card slot accepts cards up to 128 GB; a card is not included.
A 3.5 mm input accepts an external microphone or line source, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack allows monitoring. A small monochrome screen shows levels and a manual record-level dial sits on the side. Power is two AA batteries or USB-C, which also transfers files.

Clean recordings out of the box
The built-in X/Y mics capture a believable stereo image of rehearsals. Setting the level by the side dial is quicker than menu diving. Runs a long time on two AAs.

No card included
You need to buy a microSD card separately, which I did not realize until it arrived. The handling noise is a little high if you hold it rather than use a stand. Sound quality is good.

Good for interviews
I use it with an external lav through the 3.5 mm input for interviews and the levels hold steady. The screen is small but legible. USB-C transfer is straightforward.
