The Alpine Gaiters are knee-high gaiters that seal the gap between boot and trouser, keeping snow, scree, and mud out. The lower panel is abrasion-resistant 420-denier nylon; the upper is a waterproof-breathable 70-denier laminate. A front hook-and-loop closure backed by snaps makes them easy to put on over boots.
An adjustable steel instep cord runs under the boot to hold the gaiter down, and a front boot-lace hook keeps the lower edge in place. A drawcord at the top and an elastic cuff at the bottom complete the seal. Sold in two sizes by boot size. Pair weight is 280 g.

Kept the snow out all day
Postholed through knee-deep snow and my socks stayed dry. The instep cable held up on rock too. The front closure is easy to manage with cold hands.

Instep cord wears
The steel instep cable started to fray after a season of dragging over rock, which is expected for any gaiter. It is replaceable. The waterproof upper still beads water.
