The Phono Preamp Box raises the low output of a moving-magnet turntable cartridge to line level and applies RIAA equalization. It is intended for turntables that lack a built-in phono stage, or to bypass a deck's internal preamp.

Connections are a pair of RCA inputs, a pair of RCA line outputs, and a grounding post for the turntable ground wire. The unit runs from a small external power adapter. The enclosure is a brushed aluminum box with rubber feet.

  • Quiet and does one job well

    My amplifier has no phono input so this filled the gap. With the ground wire attached there is no hum at all. Output level matches my other line sources.

  • MM only, no MC support

    It only handles moving-magnet cartridges. I have a moving-coil cartridge and had to look elsewhere. The listing does say MM but I missed it. Works fine within its scope.
